Home detox tool for happy hormones

Theres nothing better than learning DIY home remedies for health. Today I am going to be sharing my favourite easy home detox tool.

Your body is an amazingly complex system, working day in and day out to eliminate toxins and excess hormones. In addition, our body is simultaneously breaking down and absorbing the food we eat into nutrients to fuel each and every cell .In order to support our bodies we need our detox organs to be in tip-top shape. At the centre of detoxification in our liver.

Our natural detoxification pathways help conjugate and clear exogenous chemicals, toxins, hormones, and by-products of cellular processes.  Having a system of multiple organs of elimination is how the body avoids a build up of potentially harmful toxins and helps us to feel our best. When detoxification and elimination pathways are functioning properly we produce hormones and neurotransmitters in an optimal way.

But here’s where we run into trouble. Our environment is full of toxins, endocrine disrupting chemicals, carcinogens, pesticides, flame retardants (to just name a few) and chronic stress. All these factors can quickly knock hormones levels out of whack and leave you feeling like anything but yourself. When your hormones are imbalances your mood, menstrual cycle, energy, weight, complexion, bowels etc are affected.

Plus, hormone balance is necessary for fertility. The key is we need to get your sex hormones in the right amounts and working together to allow for conception and to support a healthy pregnancy. So, if you are trying to get pregnant, this is one technique you may want to consider.

This simple and easy at home technique helps to support your liver, and bowels to encourage detoxification and hormone, toxin, waste elimination.  In addition to the home detox tool I share below, focus on consuming liver loving foods, reducing stress and getting adequate sleep.

Home Detox Tool: Castor oil packs

Castor oil is made form the castor been and has been used historically, internally or externally, for a variety of aliments. Please do not take castor oil internally unless you have consulted with your doctor (your family, friends, roommates, and toilet will thank you).  Internally castor oil stimulates the bowels and increases circulation. From personal experience it causes extreme cramping and explosive diarrhea- proceed with caution!

But topically, castor oil packs can be placed over the abdomen to enhance liver function, stimulate the healthy flow of lymph fluid, decrease inflammation, and help treat chronic constipation.(1)

Castor Oil Packs for Liver Detoxification

Instructions:

  1. Purchase castor oil preferably stored in a dark class to container.
  2. Every night before bed, apply castor oil from your midsection  (hip bone to lower ribs). Rub in a clockwise direction. *Note make sure you don’t mind staining – castor oil will darken and stain fabric over time.
  3. Apply a piece of flannel, old towel or old shirt over your midsection.
  4. You can apply heat or not what ever is convenient
  5. Ideally, you should use this time to relax,  meditate or read
  6. Go to bed and have a great sleep
  7. Repeat the following night

Castor oil packs are just as simple as that. They increase circulation, stimulate the bowels and support liver detoxification. This is just one of the many natural ways to improve hormone health and create an abundance of happiness, energy and strength.
